This is Ijja Boufker, the daughter of Aisha, one of the two women leaders selected by the village to receive training in development. Ijja is 18, and made the piece below by herself.
Piece 2.11458 is new, but uses all natural dyes, which is quite unusual. By clicking on the photo you can see the colors and the weaving more clearly. By clicking here, you can see the entire piece, which is a rectangular center with an extension at each end. In the village they showed me how it is cut in half and used as the upper part of a boot - but I'd use it for a wall hanging. The central rectangle measures about 10' x 41", and the bands on each end make the whole piece 56" long. The price is $255.
